Long Black

Commonly found in Australia and New Zealand, a long black is a style of coffee made by pouring a double-shot of espresso over hot water. When made properly, the drink will maintain crema on top and still have a good espresso flavor. It will also be hot but not too hot to drink.

  • 2 ounces of espresso
  • 4 ounces of Hot water

Directions:

  1. Heat water to just the boiling point. If possible, you can also retrieve hot water from the espresso machine. The key is that the water should not be too hot to drink. When done, pour 4 ounces of water into a medium sized cup.
  2. Make 2 ounces of espresso and pour directly on top.
